History Delta Chi Fraternity Inc. On October 13, 1890 eleven law students at Cornell University formed a Law Fraternity, Delta Chi. In 1922, the Fraternity officially went "general", thus opening its membership to men in all areas of study. Delta Chi, in 1929, became the first fraternity to officially abolish the hazing practices associated with "hell week". Delta Chi Rhode Island Chapter Founded and colonized in 2005 by University of Rhode Island students. It has flourished and become one of the most successful chapters at the University of Rhode Island. Delta Chi holds the third highest GPA among all fraternities. The all fraternity average for GPA is high than the all mens average at the University of Rhode Island. Delta Chi was the winner of Philanthropy Week with Sigma Delta Tau in Fall of 2007. Delta Chi came in second place during Philanthropy Week in the Fall of 2008. Matthew Finan, senior, was elected Interfraternity Council President and another brother J. Vincent Salafia, junior, was elected Risk Manager for the Interfraternity Council during the 2010-2011 school year. ![]() Regent for Region VII David K. Weber Cornell '68 |
